Born in France. Currently living and working in England. Educated in France and England:

   •  Licence-ès-Lettres in English (1974), University of Lyon.

   •  Maîtrise-ès-Lettres  in English and American literature (1976), University of Lyon.

   •  MA in French literature (1978) with Distinction, Birkbeck College, University of London.

   •  PhD in French literature (1985), Birkbeck College, University of London.

Teaching posts in further and higher education until 1988. And since 1988: independent scholar, translator and author.
