Greetings from the Brink is a mock-heroic take on the navel-gazing induced by prolonged self-isolation during the Covid pandemic and on the idea of personal exploration as an alternative to travelling. It was created in response to a call for participation in the mail-art project Stay Home / Mail Art from the Kunstmuseen Krefeld, which owns a collection of mail art works by the British artist duo Gilbert & George.
“We have received great mail from various parts of the world are now extremely eager to present it. Through your creativity and passion, a multifaceted pictorial space has been created in the Kaiser Wilhem Museum in Krefeld, in which our fears – as well as our confidence – find their place.
Whereas all art touches on the field of communication, mail art in particular makes the creative exchange between people possible even in times when keeping distance has become a basic rule of everyday life.”
